Ugh... in the wintertime, I get itching to play golf.. especially now since there probably isn't a golf course open within 500 miles of me. Darn the North! (hush, skuffcoyote :P

Well I had several golfing achievements this year. I must be getting a bit better :)

  • Made the City-Am Cut and final round. Finished T-97 out of 220 people.

  • Shot under par for the first time EVER. Did it at Twin Pines (-1) 71. (67.8/107)

  • Shot a personal best of (+5) 77 at Ellis Golf course with an even par 36 on the front 9. (71.1/121)

  • Drove 380 yds on a par 5 (longest drive), granted it was downhill.

Hopefully more to come next year :)

I've been substituting in our golf league at work. Shot 42 and 41 in consecutive weeks at the local Ellis Golf Course (front 9). I've been kind of all over the place, but still scoring ok I suppose. My calculated HCP is 4 (on 9 holes) and sadly it's the third best in the league. Of course the average age is probably 50, but it's fun. :)

It's beginning to become golf season! Shut up for people living in year-round golfing areas.

I hit the driving range today. Started off hitting the ball so clean and pure, then I woke up. Hopefully though, I can make headway! Who knows... another year of golf is about to be under way! :)

Note to self: Do NOT stab yourself in the hand on the first tee.

Well had my ups and downs at Amana Golf Course. It's a good course, and for $30 with a cart, it can't be beat around here! THe city course is much more expensive. I was playing with two other friends Pat and Josh and his dad.

Of course I pounded a ball down the left side into the woods to start off... ended up next to the base of a tree so it took me 2 shots just to get back to the fairway :P That was a low point.

High point: My friend Pat, woudl probably be the worst of us all, shooting in the mid 100s. Well on this day, he asked what he should do with a 165yd hole. Since there was wind, and he doesn't drive it very far, I told him to use his driver. As his customary shot works, he started it off left and it curved back into the green.. right at the hole! The pin was in back and the ball landed on the front of the green, all the way back! OMG! But no hole in one! Ended 3' past the hole! He made his birdie coming back, which he claims is his first ever! :D

My driver was going for the most part. 1-4 and 10-14 holes were out (agaisnt the wind) the others in general were with the wind. On the par 5 15th, I smashed my driver far and long... so long it went over the hill. As I pulled up to it, it had settled about 178 yards out, so I had driven it 339 yards! :D That was the only part that made me feel like a pro. The rest of the hole went downhill literally as I chunked an 8-iron, chipped and 3 putted for a 6 :P

Only made one bird on my round, which was a good 3 on a par 4. 4 iron, PW, putt in on a short par 4. Had a couple of chances at bird, but to no avail. On the 16th hole par 3, hit a beautiful 6 iron with the wind from 192 out and landed 10' from the pin. An easy 2 putt par.

All in all, was striking the ball ok, but had some bad mishits that costs strokes. Shot a 92 which is about typical for me at this course. :P
